Despite the exclusion and stigmatization the rave and techno suffered in early 90s : The media actively participated in the stigmatization of techno, Cultural institutions consider it as a marginal phenomenon, noisy and without artistic interest, The art market rejects digital artworks, the music industry considers that techno is not music, Raves are seen as a threat to the traditional entertainment industry. 

 

From 1993 to 1997, a film crew from the underground had the audacious idea of documenting this exceptional period. They filmed rave parties, recorded the beginning of digital art taking place across Europe, capturing the energy, creativity and passion that animated this generation. 

 

Preciously preserved for thirty years, these archives constitute a unique and unprecedented testimony to this era when techno culture was forced underground. These exceptionals archives are much more than just a historical document. They are a true paradoxal cultural heritage which should never have existed.

 

They plunge us into the heart of these legendary evenings, revealing  the performances of the DJs, Vjs, the extravagant looks and the spirit of communion which reigned in these gatherings.They remind us that music and culture are powerful forces, capable of transcending borders, bringing people together and creating spaces of freedom and expression.
